THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PINNACLE (M van Rensburg) and FLOWERS OF NIKE (*K A Brewer) were stubborn loading. b) LITERAL IMAGE (R Fourie) was stubborn loading and thereafter slow losing one length. c) LADYHAWKE (T Gould) was stubborn loading, nervous in the stalls and thereafter slow into stride. d) BAVARIAN JET (J P v'd Merwe) and EMILY'S SPIRIT (G Cheyne) were restless in the stalls. e) CRIONNA (K Minnie) was restless in the stalls and thereafter slow losing one length. f) VANADIUM (L Mxothwa) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) VANADIUM (L Mxothwa) proved difficult to settle and raced awkwardly with its head up in the early stages. b) LITERAL IMAGE (R Fourie) raced green around the turn and thereafter compounded from the 200m. c) Jockey J P van der Merwe did not persevere with his riding in the concluding stages. Thereafter, Jockey J P van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with BAVARIAN JET in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer G D Smith was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of BAVARIAN JET on return to stables d) CRIONNA (K Minnie) shifted out away from the crop in the concluding stages. e) PINNACLE (M van Rensburg), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
