THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Leaving the 1400m LIGHTINTHEDARKNESS (J Gates) which over-raced in the early and middle stages was eased momentarily when close to the heels of CURIOUS GIRL (C Murray) which raced green and rolled in when ridden forward. Jockey C Murray appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was advised to exercise more care. b) Jockey C Habib reported that NKWENKWEZI took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss in the running with BALTIC ASSAYER. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performance of LIGHTINTHEDARKNESS (J Gates) (14.70 lengths, 66/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) DE VLUGGE (C F Dicken), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
