THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DESERT CLOUD (L Mxothwa) was stubborn loading. b) TRILLION DREAMS (X Ndlovu) stood awkwardly in the stalls. c) BUDDELJA (S Naidoo) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 testing were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h45) b) Permission was granted for GOLDEN ALEXIA (M Yeni) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) BUDDELJA (S Naidoo), which jumped inwards and was slow into stride, made contact with DARLINGBUDSOFMAY (MK Katjedi) shortly after the start. d) DARLINGBUDSOFMAY (MK Katjedi) was hanging in from the 300m. e) Jockey C Maujean reported that he felt something amiss with NIGHT IN JAPAN and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. The Stipendiary Board has exercised the provisions of Rule 49.7, and this filly is suspended pending a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next racing engagement. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised. f) Jockeys M Yeni (GOLDEN ALEXIA) and S Naidoo (BUDDELJA) reported that they felt something amiss with their mounts. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies. Stable Employee GW Paddock and Assistant Trainer FJ Jacobs respectively were advised to report back should they find anything amiss with these fillies on their return to the stables. g) OPERA VERSE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
