Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:
b) ZAMBEZI SUNSET (R Fourie) was fractious in the stalls, removed from the stalls, examined by the
Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race, reloaded and thereafter slow losing one length.
c) PROLIFIC STAR (C Habib), WELSH STARLET (C Maujean) and GO DANCING (*N Nastili) were slow
into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded (13H08).
b) Permission was granted for SEMPRE BELLA (W Agrella) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding
to the start.
c) Leaving the 150m, CHEAP THRILLS (M K Katjedi) shifted out slightly away from the crop and thereafter
OUTBACK EXPRESS (M van Rensburg) shifted out, carrying CHEAP THRILLS (M K Katjedi) out and
made contact shortly before the finish line. In this incident, Jockey M van Rensburg (OUTBACK
EXPRESS) accidentally dropped his crop.
A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board, which was followed by an Objection
being lodged by Trainer J P Nel on behalf of the second-placed horse, CHEAP THRILLS, against the
winner, OUTBACK EXPRESS (M van Rensburg), on the grounds of interference and intimidation in the
concluding stages. The Objection Board, after reviewing the patrol film of the race and hearing all the
evidence put forward by the connections, was of the opinion that CHEAP THRILLS (M K Katjedi) would
have finished in front of OUTBACK EXPRESS (M van Rensburg) barring this incident and therefore
upheld the Objection and amended the Judges result to read as follows:
