THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GENTLEMAN (X Ndlovu), LINE OF POWER (G Cheyne) and LIFE ON MARS (*K A Brewer) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RED BISHOP dislodged Apprentice Y Ramzan on parade and ran freely for a short distance. RED BISHOP was taken in hand and reunited with Apprentice Y Ramzan. On arrival at the start, RED BISHOP was examined by the Course Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. b) Jockey R Munger reported that UNDISCLOSED made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey M van Rensburg reported that he felt something amiss with SAVIOUR in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning SAVIOUR, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer G D Smith was advised. e) LIFE ON MARS (*K A Brewer), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
