THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process WAIT FOR ME (R Fourie) slipped its bridle, which was refitted, causing a delay. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 250m a tiring DIBBLE (*S Bungane) was steadied briefly when tightened for room between the inside running rail and HOW RIGHT YOU ARE (K Steyn) which was carried in by LOUI'S STAR (*B Plaatjies), which was carried in by BEACH VERSE (A Fortune), which shifted in away from the crop and was straightened. b) Jockey S Khumalo reported that AMERICAN BEAUTY changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey D Ashby reported that ENDEARED did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey A Domeyer reported that he felt something amiss with GIVEN TO FLY. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey A Fortune was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of BEACH VERSE he misused his crop by striking BEACH VERSE more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey A Fortune signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4 000,00. f) Trainer GW Ennion was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner/s of ELUSIVE GIFT. Trainer GW Ennion signed an Admission of Guilt and was given a warning. g) BEACH VERSE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised.
