Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	STRATHCLYDE (R Fourie) was nervous and kicked in the stalls.
b)	KING'S RANSOM (M Yeni) was nervous in the stalls and jumped awkwardly.
c)	SAKURAJIMA (W Agrella), DOWSER (C Maujean) and LANCIAFIAMME (M van Rensburg) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	KING'S RANSOM (M Yeni) recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer K Mitchley was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. (13h29) This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level.
b)	Permission was granted for KING'S RANSOM (M Yeni) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. 
c)	LANCIAFIAMME (M van Rensburg) over raced in the early stages.
d)	STRATHCLYDE (R Fourie) over raced in the early and middle stages. 
e) 	MASTER FORESTER (X Ndlovu) shifted out away from the crop at the 150m.
f)	STRATHCLYDE (R Fourie) jumped a patch shortly before the finish line. Thereafter, Jockey R Fourie reported that STRATHCLYDE was fatigued. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
	Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables.	
g)	In view of the performance of SAKURAJIMA (W Agrella), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
SAKURAJIMA (W Agrella) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr M Bawden)
h)	Jockey M Yeni appeared before the Board and was reminded that all Riders had agreed to ride their mounts to the centre and outside of the course to avoid the patches that were a concern. Jockey M Yeni was further advised that should he ignore this instruction and continue to ride his mounts towards the inside in future engagements, disciplinary measures would be considered. 
i)	LANCIAFIAMME, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WGC Miller was advised. (LM)
j)	KING'S RANSOM, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM)
