Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) NORTH STAR (R Fourie) recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer AC Greeff was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. (15h16) b) Permission was granted for WISSA'S ON FIRE (M van Rensburg) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) Jockey C Zackey appeared before the Board and was questioned with regard to the manner in which he rode MUNCHKIN between the 800m and the 600m. He explained to the Stewards that this gelding showed a tendency to hang out and he wanted to establish if there was sufficient room on his outside to allow his mount to shift out. Thereafter, MUNCHKIN commenced to hang in from the 550m. Jockey C Zackey's explanation was noted. d) RAVILIOUS (*B Soodoo) was hanging in from the 400m. e) NORTH STAR (R Fourie) shied away from FOUR JACKS (S Naidoo) at approximately the 400m. f) Apprentice B Soodoo (RAVILIOUS) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride. g) RAVILIOUS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
