THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AMERICAN ULTRA (L Mxothwa) was difficult loading, rushed the front gates, was taken out, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race. Prior to reloading, the saddle on AMERICAN ULTRA (L Mxothwa) was re-adjusted, causing a slight delay. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) AMERICAN ULTRA (L Mxothwa) proved difficult proceeding to the start and had to be led, riderless, by a Handler. Trainer MH Maingard was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future engagements, she may be suspended. b) Shortly after the start AMERICAN ULTRA (L Mxothwa) was brushed by AMEN CORNER (*B Plaatjies), which was bumped outwards by HERITAGE RIDGE (C Zackey), which shifted out sharply and was immediately straightened. c) At the 200m BETWEEN THE LINES (*S Bungane) was directed outwards and into clear running. d) Leaving the 200m HERITAGE RIDGE (C Zackey), which was hanging in, rolled in and had to be steadied briefly when close to the heels of LOVE SHACK (G Wright). e) INSIDE VOICE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
