THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GRAVITY (*V Jodhee) and HEAR MY VOICE (G Wright) were slow into stride. b) DU MAURIER (JP van der Merwe) got his head to the side as the start was effected and jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) DU MAURIER (JP van der Merwe) got his head up for a number of strides when awkwardly placed on the outside of EASY LIVING (D Ashby) leaving the 800m. b) Leaving the 800m WYLIE JACK (C Bantam) and DU MAURIER (JP van der Merwe) brushed. c) Jockey G Wright (HEAR MY VOICE) briefly got his crop entangled in his right-side rein leaving the 100m. d) Apprentice V Jodhee (GRAVITY) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride. e) Apprentice B Plaatjies was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on COUNTRY TIME, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer. Apprentice B Plaatjies signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00. f) COUNTRY TIME, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PD Reeves was advised. (SC) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) D Ashby rode EASY LIVING (declared 07h31 on 20250903) b) JP van der Merwe rode DU MAURIER (declared 09h19 on 20250903) c) C Zackey rode ROSA OSIRIA (declared 07h35 on 20250903) d) Apprentice B Plaatjies (COUNTRY TIME) weighed out at 53.3kgs and did not claim his 1.5kg allowance. The Stewards, in consultation with Trainer PD Reeves, granted permission for COUNTRY TIME to carry this overweight in terms of Rule 59.9 as no other Rider was available at the weight.
