THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LOMU (JP van der Merwe), LADY OF FATE (J Solomons) and DISRUPTIVE (K Steyn) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start KING'S COLOUR (C Little) and FROM THE HIP (*B Plaatjies) made contact. b) CITY OF PORT LOUIS (C Zackey) raced wide on the turn and into the straight. c) The saddle on RARE ONYX (*S Bungane), which was hanging out and pulled hard in the early stages, slipped sideways leaving the 1200m, placing Apprentice S Bungane at a disadvantage. As a consequence, this gelding raced very wide on the turn and finished tailed off. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performance of RED WAVE (G Lerena), which was hanging in in the straight, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) LOMU (JP van der Merwe) was hanging in in the straight. f) SMART HORSE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J Crawford was advised.
