THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MILLAHUE (G Cheyne) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. b) SERVICE ACE (A Andrews) jumped outwards. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start STEINBECK (G van Niekerk) faltered after being brushed outwards by SERVICE ACE (A Andrews). b) Approaching the 100m VAN HUNKS (A Marcus) rolled in and had to be steadied away from the heels of PAPER TRAIL (B Fayd'Herbe). c) Leaving the 100m QUE SHIRAZ (C Zackey) was steadied when racing tight between SERVICE ACE (A Andrews) and MILLAHUE (G Cheyne). d) Jockey B Fayd'Herbe reported PAPER TRAIL did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) POMODORO'S JET, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised.
