Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CAUGHTYOUBYSURPRISE dislodged Work Rider H Tsewu while proceeding to the start. Work Rider H Tsewu was examined by the paramedics and passed fit to ride. CAUGHTYOUBYSURPRISE was brought in hand, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race. Thereafter, it was established that the stirrup leather on the saddle of CAUGHTUBYSURPRISE had broken and this filly was subsequently scratched by the Starter for delaying the start. b) NORDIC SPY (+L Kolanisi) was stubborn loading. c) MOVE TO THE GROOVE (+A Sojece) was nervous, stood awkwardly in the stalls and thereafter, was slow into stride. d) SWEET CAKE (+N Ntunja) jumped awkwardly. e) GLOBAL CHIEF (+S Ngqabuko) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (11h57) b) The Stewards reviewed Work Rider X Jacobs (MONEY GALORE) use of the crop. Work Rider X Jacobs was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline 3; Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking MONEY GALORE when, as a Work Rider, he is not permitted to use his crop in a race and furthermore, he used his crop in front of the saddle on two occasions between the 300m and the 200m. Work Rider X Jacobs signed an admission of guilt and was suspended for 3 x Work Rider races. (dates to be advised) Work Rider X Jacobs was further advised that he is not permitted to carry a crop in future races until advised by the Stipendiary Board. c) BOMBER STREAM (+MZ Naki) shifted sharply inwards at the 300m, without assistance from the Rider. d) MOVE TO THE GROOVE (+A Sojece) was hanging in badly from the 200m and proved difficult to assist. e) SWEET CAKE (+M Ntunja) became unbalanced for no apparent reason at approximately the 100m. f) Work Rider S Tutu (MAFIABAGSTHEMONEY) appeared before the Board with regard to the abrupt manner in which he pulled his mount up after the finish line. Work Rider S Tutu was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.11 in that as the rider of MAFIABAGSTHEMONEY, he pulled this gelding up abruptly instead of easing it up gradually after finishing the race. Work Rider S Tutu signed an Admission of Guilt and was given a warning. g) Work Rider M Ntunja was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on SWEET CAKE, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer. Work Rider M Ntunja signed an admission of guilt and was suspended for 1 Work Rider's race. (date to be advised) h) AWAY WITH RED, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised.
