THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STRANGE MAGIC (C Zackey) was examined at the start by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn, causing a delay. b) BACK FOR MORE (R Fourie) was nervous in the stalls, rushed the front gates, was taken out, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded, causing a further delay. c) ANCHOR MAN (G Wright) was stubborn loading. d) BEER WITH THE BOYS (S Naidoo) was stubborn loading, nervous in the stalls, jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. e) GLOBAL DRUMBEAT (M Yeni) stood awkwardly in the stalls. f) BLUE PALACE (L Mxothwa), FLASH LIGHTNING (C Maujean) and DUMISANI (MK Katjedi) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (14h09) b) Permission was granted for GLOBAL DRUMBEAT (M Yeni) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) BEER WITH THE BOYS (S Naidoo), which jumped awkwardly, stumbled shortly after the start. d) BLUE PALACE (L Mxothwa) over raced in the early stages. e) GLOBAL DRUMBEAT (M Yeni) was hanging out from the 600m and was corrected at the 150m. f) Jockey S Naidoo (BEER WITH THE BOYS) dropped his crop at approximately the 400m. g) DUMISANI (MK Katjedi) was hanging out from the 300m. h) Jockey G Wright did not persevere with his riding of ANCHOR MAN from the 100m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. i) Jockey S Naidoo reported that BEER WITH THE BOYS made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Assistant Trainer DG Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. j) Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of ALWAYS SHINING he misused his crop by striking ALWAYS SHINING more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey S Khumalo signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4000,00. k) BACK FOR MORE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
