Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DAS GUTE (S Khumalo) was nervous in the stalls and jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (15h57) b) Permission was granted for BIRD ON A WING (C Habib) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) GREEN OKRA (X Ndlovu), which over raced in the early stages, was directed outwards to avoid running onto the heels of VOLARE E MAMBO (C Little) at approximately the 1200m. d) GOLDEN GREY (R Fourie) and FLIGHT ENGINEER (Y Ramzan) over raced in the early and middle stages. e) PISCES (S Naidoo) was hanging in in the straight. Thereafter, Jockey S Naidoo reported that PISCES did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) In view of the performance of GOLDEN GREY (R Fourie) (Betting 33/10; Distance 6.10 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. g) NEW MEXICO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
