THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JOHNNY BOY (R Fourie) was stubborn to load. b) THE MARQUEE (S Moodley) and MYSTERIOUS ERIK (C Habib) lost 1 length. c) HAMMERHEAD (K Matsunyane) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) As the start was effected DRIELANDENPUNT (C Zackey) jumped awkwardly inwards, took an awkward stride and made contact with the right front gate leaving the starting stalls. As a result this gelding lost 2 lengths. b) Shortly after the start HAMMERHEAD (K Matsunyane) and DRIELANDENPUNT (C Zackey) came together and bumped. c) THE MARQUEE (S Moodley) raced green. d) Jockey C Habib reported that MYSTERIOUS ERIK took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the performance of DRIELANDENPUNT (C Zackey) (10.80 lengths, 15/10 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) CHICARITO (*D D Louw), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
