THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PLAYMAKER (R Fourie) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RIVER FERN recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer K Mitchley was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) HOKUSAI recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer E Kaknis was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. c) HOKUSAI (E Webber) over raced in the early stages. d) STAND UP (W Agrella) took an awkward stride shortly after the start and made slight contact with HOKUSAI (E Webber). e) PIBE DE ORO (*G Dookhit) and RIVER FERN (*B Soodoo) were hanging in from the 300m. f) CAPTAIN CLEVER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
