Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ARISTOCRATIC (S Moodley) was stubborn loading. b) LET IT BE SAID (S Veale) jumped awkwardly outwards and made contact with SUGAR MOUNTAIN (A Domeyer). c) ARISTOCRATIC (S Moodley) and PONTE PIETRA (C Orffer) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) UNDERWORLD (JP van der Merwe) pulled hard in the early and middle stages and raced wide on the turn and into the straight. b) The saddle on ABSOLUTELY YES slipped back in running, placing Jockey M Yeni at a disadvantage. As a consequence, Jockey M Yeni was unable to ride ABSOLUTELY YES to the finish. c) In view of the performance of PONTE PIETRA (C Orffer), which pulled hard in the early stages and gave ground quickly to the field in the straight, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Trainer H Brown was charged with a contravention of Rule 11.2.8 in that he presented PONTE PIETRA incorrectly equipped in the parade ring. Trainer H Brown signed an Admission of Guilt and was given a warning. e) QUESTIONING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised.
