Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROCKINGTHETIMEAWAY (+D Cooper) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) ANGELOFTHEMORNING (+D Botha) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, ANGELOFTHEMORNING (+D Botha), after being slow away, was steadied and switched in to avoid running onto the heels of MON TRESOR (+P Mongqawa), which in turn was carried in by DAME COLLEEN (+T Matsoele), when brushed in by LADY OSIER (+S Mosia), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) Work Rider D Cooper (ROCKINGTHETIMEAWAY) appeared before the Board in the presence of Work Rider Welfare Officer, Mr M Mienie, and was advised against the practice of looking around in races. c) Work Rider S Mosia appeared before the Board in the presence of Work Rider Welfare Officer, Mr M Mienie, and was questioned with regards to his ride on LADY OSIER. He explained to the Board that his instructions were to place this filly in a handy position from the start of the Race. Work Rider S Mosia further explained that LADY OSIER had travelled well in his hands up until the 600m whereupon, when asked for an effort, this filly had failed to quicken and had remained one-paced to the end of the race. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this LADY OSIER. d) Work Rider T Mayhew appeared before the Board in the presence of Work Rider Welfare Officer, Mr M Mienie, and was questioned with regards to his ride on MERCURIAL JET. He explained to the Board that MERCURIAL JET had travelled well in the early stages, however when asked for an effort, this filly had failed to respond and commenced to take a number of awkward strides in the concluding stages of the race. Work Rider T Mayhew further added that, in his opinion, this filly had resented the soft underfoot conditions and that perhaps she may prefer further in future. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this MERCURIAL JET. e) KISS TO DREAM (+I Lukhele), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L J Human advised (RS). f) ROCKINGTHETIMEAWAY (+D Cooper), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee S Sawere, acting on behalf of Trainer F Bronkhorst, advised (MS). WORK RIDER CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) ANGELOFTHEMORNING raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 7 April 2022 at 13H08). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) LADY OSIER blowing post race. b) MERCURIAL JET examined post race, nothing obvious detected. c) MON TRESOR bilateral nasal discharge. d) ROCKINGTHETIMEAWAY blowing post race. e) ANGELOFTHEMORNING brush wound left hind.
