Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SUNDROP (+P Mongqawa) jumped awkwardly sideways leaving the stalls, thereafter she proved reluctant to gallop giving significant ground to the field. The starting stall certificate for this filly has been withdrawn. Trainer P A Peter was advised telephonically (GT). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SUNDROP (+P Mongqawa) jumped awkwardly sideways leaving the stalls, thereafter she proved reluctant to gallop giving significant ground to the field. After vigorous encouragement, this filly took hold of the bit and commenced to over-race, proving difficult to settle and compounded in the straight. b) At approximately the 1200m, JANE WILSON (+D Botha) was switched out to avoid running onto the heels of MANSOORIYA (+C Mabaya). As a consequence of this, JANE WILSON (+D Botha) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. c) Work Rider C Simpson (DESTINY RULES) raced very wide around the turn and into the straight. Work Rider C Simpson appeared before the Board in the presence of Work Rider Welfare Officer, Mr M Mienie, and was questioned with regard to the above report. He explained to the Board that his instructions were to obtain a leading position from a favourable draw, however, as the start was effected, DESTINY RULES had failed to muster early speed and he was, therefore, unable to obtain his intended position and was trapped on the outside of runners. He further indicated that instead of using this filly's reserves to achieve a run as intended, he elected to remain wide and to improve his position in the straight. This was corroborated by the Patrol films in the presence of Work Rider C Simpson, who confirmed that this was his first ride around the turn. d) Work Rider I Lukhele reported that he felt something amiss with CASSOWARY in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) In view of the Starter's report with regard to SUNDROP, this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable jumping and galloping from the stalls. Suspension dates: 15 April 2022 to 22 April 2022. SUNDROP may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer P A Peter was advised telephonically. f) CAPE BOUQUET (+T Matsoele), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee A Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer B Webber, was advised (DR). WORK RIDER CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) JANE WILSON raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 7 April 2022 at 11H31). b) CASSOWARY raced equipped with blinkers (declared 13 April 2022 at 19H47). c) ELUSIVE ROCKET raced without blinkers (declared 14 April 2022 at 06H52). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CASSOWARY post race distress. b) DESTINY RULES blowing post race. c) VAGUELY FAMILIAR brush wound left hind, THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
