Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FLAG BEARER (+D Cooper) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) CHASING MAVERICKS (+A Feni), GIMME A DREAM (+P Mongqawa) and THORNTON CREEK (+I Lukhele) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, the safety catch on Work Rider C Mabaya's (GRAND ESCAPE) left side stirrup leather became detached. This resulted in Work Rider C Mabaya relinquishing the footing to his other stirrup iron which placed him at a severe disadvantage throughout the running of this race. Work Rider C Mabaya's equipment was examined by a member of the Stipendiary Board and was found to be in good working order. b) At approximately the 800m, Work Rider J Gwingwizha, the rider of POMODORO HILLS, became dislodged when running onto and clipping the heels of FORT ALADO (+S B Mthembu), which shifted in. Work Rider S B Mthembu was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of FORT ALADO, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to POMODORO HILLS (+J Gwingwizha) when he shifted in at approximately the 800m. Work Rider S B Mthembu signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in five (5) Work Rider races. Suspension dates: 26 April 2022, 10 May 2022, 19 May 2022, 26 May 2022 and 7 June 2022. c) THORNTON CREEK (+I Lukhele) commenced to give ground to the field from the 400m. d) Work Rider S Siphika reported that BULLETIN choked up in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. e) FORT ALADO (+S B Mthembu), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B B Ruiters advised (AH). When questioned regarding the improved performance of FORT ALADO, Trainer B B Ruiters could offer the Board no suitable explanation. His attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to In and Out running and he was advised that should this colt continue to display such erratic form, it may be suspended. WORK RIDER CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) THE GREAT ROMANTIC raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 7 April 2022 at 11H32). b) THORNTON CREEK raced with a tongue tie on (declared 14 April 2022 at 06H50). c) GIMME A DREAM raced with a tongue tie on (declared 14 April 2022 at 06H52). d) POMODORO HILLS raced equipped with a compression mask (declared 14 April 2022 at 08H36). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) BULLETIN examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) POMODORO HILLS coughing post race. c) HOUSE MASTER blowing post race. d) THE GREAT ROMANTIC abrasions right hind.
