Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WORLD CHAMPION (L Mxothwa) was restless in the stalls. b) FLEUR DE VILLE (*S Bungane) and SLASH 'N BURN (IRE) (R Fourie) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) While being saddled, MOODY BLUE cast its right hind shoe, which the farrier was unable to replace. In terms of Rule 58.8.3.1 and in consultation with Trainer JMT Stewart, the left hind shoe was removed and MOODY BLUE raced unshod behind. b) After being slow to begin, SLASH 'N BURN (IRE) (R Fourie) shifted out sharply shortly after the start and had to be corrected. Thereafter, SLASH 'N BURN (IRE) (R Fourie) raced green. c) PERFECT IMPACT (G Wright) was held up for a clear run in the concluding stages. d) Jockey C Murray was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride SIMBINE out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, thereby prejudicing his chance of obtaining 5th place. Jockey C Murray signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R2612.00. e) CARIBBEAN GOLD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GS Kotzen was advised. (SC) f) MOODY BLUE, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JMT Stewart was advised.
