Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	JACK THE NIPPER (D Ashby) and DIVINE WARRIOR (G Wright) jumped slow, losing one length.
b)	PRAIRIE DAWN (C Bantam) and ERIKS LOVE (S Moodley) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	JACK THE NIPPER (D Ashby) proved difficult proceeding to the start and had to be led by a Handler. Trainer AD Steyn was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future engagements, it may be suspended. 
b)	PROTECTOR OF PEACE (C Orffer) raced green on the turn.
c)	ERIKS LOVE (S Moodley) shifted both ways away from the crop in the straight.
d)	At the 200m MARCUS AURELIUS (A Domeyer) was directed outwards and into clear running.
e)	Approaching the 100m PRAIRIE DAWN (C Bantam) was held up for a number of strides behind EUGENIUS (R Fourie). Thereafter, Jockey C Bantam was unable to ride this gelding to the finish when awkwardly placed on the inside of PROTECTOR OF PEACE (C Orffer).
f)	SUMMER IN IRELAND (C Little) had difficulty securing clear running in the latter stages.
g)	Jockey D Ashby reported that JACK THE NIPPER, which raced green and was hanging in in the straight, did not stride out freely in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
After interviewing Jockey D Ashby, the Stipendiary Board has exercised the provisions of Rule 49.7, and this gelding is suspended pending a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next racing engagement. Trainer AD Steyn was advised. 
h)	MARCUS AURELIUS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass was advised. (TJ)
