Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MY BESTIE (JP van der Merwe) jumped with its head up and was slow into stride. b) STATE CAPITOL (*B Plaatjies) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) While on parade, BOUNDLESS LOVE (*S Bungane) made contact with the outside running rail, which resulted in a portion of the rail collapsing. Thereafter, BOUNDLESS LOVE (*S Bungane) proved difficult proceeding to the start and had to be led, riderless. On arrival at the start, BOUNDLESS LOVE (*S Bungane) was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future engagements, he may be suspended. The affected railings were corrected by the ground staff. b) GRIPEN (C Murray) over raced in the early and middle stages. c) Leaving the 1200m BOUNDLESS LOVE (*S Bungane) raced onto the heels of GRIPEN (C Murray) and was directed outwards. Thereafter, BOUNDLESS LOVE (*S Bungane) raced wide on the turn and into the straight. d) Approaching the 400m MELA STRENGTH (*G Samo-Burthia) rolled out when close to the heels of RED CORAL (A Domeyer) and made contact with BOUNDLESS LOVE (*S Bungane). e) Leaving the 50m MY BESTIE (JP van der Merwe) was steadied when racing tight between the inside running rail and GNARLY (O Noach), which shifted in slightly away from DREAM SEARCHER (C Bantam). f) MELA STRENGTH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PD Wrensch was advised.
