DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL STORM IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE RACECOURSE, THE RUNNERS WERE HELD BACK IN THE SADDLING AREA AND DISPATCHED DIRECTLY TO THE START IN THE INTEREST OF RIDER AND HORSE WELFARE. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE, THE STARTER REPORTED: a) INFINITE WONDER (K A Brewer) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) FLASHY APACHE (*N Nastili) hung out from the 400m. b) At approximately the 150m, IMPERIAL MASTER (*T Mayhew) was steadied momentarily when tightened for galloping room between MOUNT DARWIN (J R Syster), which rolled out, and PALACE PRINCE (P Mxoli), which shifted in away from the crop and was corrected. c) In view of the performance of PALACE PRINCE (P Mxoli), (distance 3,50 lengths, betting 83/100), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) MASTERSHIP (M van Rensburg), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
