Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	EASY LIVING (*N Nastili) kicked the back gates in the starting stalls.
b)	CHAMPAGNE MAC (*D Pillay) was restless in the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride.
c)	ROSA OSIRIA (*S Bungane) jumped slow, losing three lengths.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a)	AVIGNON (*B Marx-Jacobson) raced wide on the turn and into the straight.
b)	In view of the performance of LIFE GOES ON (*G Samo-Burthia), which raced awkwardly on the turn and was hanging in in the straight, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c)	CHAMPAGNE MAC (*D Pillay) was held up for a number of strides approaching the 300m when unable to secure clear running between the inside running rail and EASY LIVING (*N Nastili).
d)	At the 150m Apprentice N Nastili (EASY LIVING) had difficulty changing his crop from his left hand to his right hand.
e)	Apprentice B Plaatjies (COUNTRY TIME) appeared before the Board in the presence of the Academy Riding Master, and was questioned with regard to the manner in which he used his crop at the 100m which, in the opinion of the Stewards, was in close proximity to MRS SHACKLETON. Whilst the patrol film showed no conclusive evidence that MRS SHACKLETON had been struck on the face, Apprentice B Plaatjies was severely reprimanded and advised that his use of the crop, especially when racing in close proximity to other runners, will be closely monitored in future engagements.
f)	In view of the report from the Starter regarding ROSA OSIRIA (*S Bungane), Trainer M Rix will be advised to have this filly re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
g)	COUNTRY TIME, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PD Reeves was advised. (SC)
h)	MRS SHACKLETON, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JMT Stewart was advised. (SC)
