THE STARTER REPORTED: a) On arrival at the start, the bridle on KAIBOY (*DD Louw) required adjustment, causing a delay. b) KAIBOY (*DD Louw) jumped awkwardly. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, Apprentice J Botes (UN BEL DI) was knocked on the skull cap by KAIBOY (*DD Louw), which jumped awkwardly and threw its head to the side. b) In view of the performance of KAIBOY (*DD Louw), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Apprentice DD Louw was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline B on the use of the crop) in that he mis-used his crop by striking KAIBOY with his crop arm above shoulder height. Apprentice DD Louw signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. d) Apprentice J Botes was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline B on the use of the crop) in that he mis-used his crop by striking UN BEL DI with his crop arm above shoulder height. Apprentice J Botes signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. e) ARCTIC WIZARD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GW Ennion was advised.
