Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	BIG BOY BRUCE (E Webber) was stubborn loading.
b)	VIRGIN RIVER (R Fourie) kicked the back gates in the starting stalls and thereafter jumped awkwardly, losing two lengths.
c)	BEECHAMWOOD BOY (K Minnie) and CROWNED HORNBILL (M Yeni) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (15h27)
b)	EXPLOSIVE SPEED (*G Dookhit) shifted inwards from the 400m.
c)	Jockey C Little did not persevere with his riding of THE WINTER LAKE from the 250m and thereafter, Jockey C Little reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
	Assistant Trainer DG Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. 
The Stipendiary Board has exercised the provisions of Rule 49.7, and this gelding is suspended pending a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next racing engagement. Assistant Trainer DG Smith was advised. 
d)	Jockey M Yeni reported that CROWNED HORNBILL, which took a number of awkward strides at the 400m and was not persevered with from the 250m, made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. 
e)	VIRGIN RIVER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM)
