THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	PRINCESS OF BAYEUX (*B Plaatjies) jumped awkwardly, losing one length.
b)	STRAWBERRY THIEF (R Fourie) was slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	After being slow to begin, PRINCESS OF BAYEUX (*B Plaatjies) was steadied off the heels of OMIKAMI (*N Yuen) and thereafter was allowed to race around runners and into a prominent position. PRINCESS OF BAYEUX (*B Plaatjies) tired quickly in the straight. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare.
b)	Leaving the 1200m LAVENDER BAY (S Moodley) was steadied briefly when awkwardly placed on the inside of DOUBLE DASH (G Wright).	
c)	At the 300m HUNGA TONGA (C Murray) shifted out sharply away from the crop and had to be straightened. 
d)	In view of the performance of OMIKAMI (*N Yuen), which raced wide on the turn and into the straight, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. 
e)	In view of the performances of PENTOLINA (S Veale) and DOUBLE DASH (G Wright), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies.
f)	STRAWBERRY THIEF, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J Crawford was advised. (ZM)
