En route to the start TOMYRIS (S Khumalo) cast the left-front shoe which was replaced by the course farrier at the start. This mare was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. Light rain fell during the running of this race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (SR) : a) PERILLA (S Moodley) was difficult to settle in the early and middle stages. b) CONVOCATION (C Murray), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
