EN ROUTE TO THE START, LAVA FIRE (P MXOLI) PULLED ITS LEFT FRONT SHOE, WHICH WAS ATTENDED TO BY THE COURSE FARRIER. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FUTURENAIRE (S Moodley) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) FULLY LOADED (C Zackey) and TAKE NO PRISONERS (J R Syster) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. c) WINSTON'S WONDER (K Matsunyane) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BIG UNIT (G Lerena) over-raced in the early stages and thereafter hung in from the 200m. b) In the concluding stages, UNION ROSE (M van Rensburg) was brushed out by WINSTON'S WONDER (K Matsunyane), which was directed outwards away from the heels of LAVA FIRE (P Mxoli), which, after racing prominently throughout, had come to the end of its run. c) In view of the performance of TAKE NO PRISONERS (J R Syster), (distance 13,20 lengths, betting 7/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performance of FUTURENAIRE (S Moodley), (distance 15,60 lengths, betting 66/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey C Habib reported that BRAVE VIKING made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) AFTER HOURS (M K Katjedi), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
