Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DAS GUTE (L Mxothwa) was nervous in the stalls. b) MIGHTY MAC (E Webber) was nervous in the stalls, reared and thereafter, was slow into stride. c) FOUR JACKS (S Naidoo) and MR BELVEDERE (C Habib) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (14h28) b) Permission was granted for FOUR JACKS (S Naidoo) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) EL CAPITAN (M van Rensburg) over raced in the early and middle stages. d) MIGHTY MAC (E Webber) refused to take the turn and raced wide into the straight. e) At approximately the 75m, DAS GUTE (L Mxothwa) was carried out by COMMANDING (C Little), which shifted out continually away from the crop from the 300m. An Inquiry has been opened into this incident. f) Apprentice G Dookhit (FREE WORLD) dropped his crop at the 200m. Thereafter, at the 100m, FREE WORLD took an awkward stride, faltered, became unbalanced and was not preserved with by Apprentice G Dookhit. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. g) Jockey C Orffer reported that THUNDER MASTER changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. h) DAS GUTE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
