THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE 30-MINUTE INTERVAL BETWEEN RACES AS WELL AS GASLIGHT DANCER (C LITTLE) LIFTING ITS LEFT FRONT SHOE EN ROUTE TO THE START, WHICH WAS ATTENDED TO BY THE COURSE FARRIER. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) QUIET WINTER (C Zackey) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) SIKELOI (S Veale) was slow losing two lengths. c) GASLIGHT DANCER (C Little) and LIEFLING (L Mxothwa) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) EREBUS (*K J Lihaba) commenced to give ground to the field from the 400m. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) Shortly before the finish line, TIPPERARY (R A Venniker) was steadied off the heels of SAKURA HANAMI (S Moodley), which hung in from the 400m. c) In view of the performance of STONE OF SCONE (M Yeni), (distance 11,00 lengths, betting 8/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performance of MIDNIGHT MIRACLE (J R Syster), (distance 18,75 lengths, betting 25/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey J Mariba reported that TAKING A RISK choked up in the running.
