Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	TINDER DRY (C Zackey), ABLUEAZURE (K Matsunyane) and ATTENTIVE (R Munger) were slow into stride.
b)	SECRET GIVER (C Habib) broke the front gates open as the start was effected.  Trainer G H van Zyl was advised to re-school this gelding prior to its next engagement.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a)	As the start was effected, SECRET GIVER became restless and nudged the front starting stall gate open.  The Board was satisfied that this gelding was in the stalls as the start was effected, had not gained an advantage over the rest of the field and therefore took no further action. 
b)	ANCIENT ROME (Wes Marwing) raced wide around the turn, into the straight and thereafter raced detached from the field to the outside of the track for the remainder of the race.
c)	POTTINGER (W Kennedy) hung in from the 400m.
	In view of the performance of POTTINGER (betting 33/10, distance 5,50 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d)	Shortly before the finish line, TINDER DRY (C Zackey) had to steady when tightened for galloping room between BALL ROLLING (*P Mxoli) and the inside running rail.
e)	Apprentice S Sosibo the rider of ELUSIVE SWANN rode a satisfactory qualifying ride.
f)	LEESON (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer M N Houdalakis advised (AH).
	Jockey Khumalo appeared before the Board and was advised against the practice of making celebratory gestures prior to the finish line, and that should he persist with such behaviour, penalties will be imposed.  

JOCKEY CHANGES:

a)	KURT'S APPROVAL was ridden by Apprentice K A Brewer who claimed a 1,5kg allowance (declared 18 April 2022 at 10H50).
b)	FORT WYLIE was ridden by Apprentice J R Syster (declared 18 April 2022 at 10H51).

RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:

a)	POTTINGER raced equipped with blinkers and with a tongue tie on (declared 19 April 2022 at 06H42).
b)	ATTENTIVE Jockey R Munger weighed out at 54,5kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight.

THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:

a)	POTTINGER examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
b)	ARLINGTON ACTION recurrent brush wound right hind.
