Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KING'S RANSOM (M Yeni) was nervous in the stalls. b) EYJAFJALLAJOKULL (C Habib) was nervous in the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. c) WECANGOALLNIGHT (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GOLDEN LINK recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) KING'S RANSOM recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer K Mitchley was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. c) Permission was granted for KING'S RANSOM (M Yeni) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. d) Shortly after the start KING'S RANSOM (M Yeni) was bumped outwards by FINAL TRY (K Minnie), which was bumped by CHAMPONELLE (M van Rensburg) which, in turn, was bumped by EYJAFJALLAJOKULL (C Habib), which was carried out by DUBAI HILLS (X Ndlovu). Jockey X Ndlovu appeared before the Board and was advised to straighten his mounts timeously in similar circumstances in a race. e) DUBAI HILLS shifted out away from the crop from the 200m without any assistance from Jockey X Ndlovu. f) WECANGOALLNIGHT (R Fourie) brushed the inside running rail at the 450m. g) GOLDEN LINK (L Mxothwa) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr K Davis) h) Jockey X Ndlovu was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline B on the use of the crop) in that he mis-used his crop by striking DUBAI HILLS with his crop arm above shoulder height. Jockey X Ndlovu signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. i) DUBAI HILLS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
