Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	CANFORD LIGHTS (G Cheyne) and LAST STORM (C Orffer) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter were slow into stride.
b)	LIGHT SPEED (G van Niekerk) was restless in the stalls.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 
 
a)	After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, CANFORD LIGHTS (G Cheyne) cast his left front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay.
b)	LIGHT SPEED (G van Niekerk) over raced in the early stages.
c)	UMZIMKULU RIVER (C Zackey) pulled hard in the early and middle stages, raced wide into the straight, tired quickly from the 300m and was not persevered with thereafter. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
d)	Jockey R Fourie reported SMITH AND WESSON did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
e)	Approaching the 50m MARVEL WILLIAM (B Fayd'Herbe), which was finishing off the race strongly, shifted inwards away from the crop and brushed the shoulder of CANFORD LIGHTS (G Cheyne) which became unbalanced as a result thereof and was eased for a number of strides. A Stipendiary Steward called for a race review into this incident and after viewing the patrol film, no further action was taken. 
f)	Jockey B Fayd'Herbe was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of MARVEL WILLIAM he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to CANFORD LIGHTS approaching the 50m. Jockey B Fayd'Herbe signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates: 25/04/2022 to 01/05/2022 inclusive)
g)	MARVEL WILLIAM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant  Trainer A Alsop, acting on behalf of Trainer VH Marshall, was advised. (JF)
