THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STAMPEDE AHEAD (*K J Lihaba), CHRISTMAS CACTUS (*D D Louw) and BOSS OF BOSSES (A Mgudlwa) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) : a) BOURNE SUPREMACY (T Godden) and THE MARQUEE (S Moodley) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) At the 150m BOURNE SUPREMACY (T Godden) which hung out from the 400m, was steadied when awkwardly placed between STAMPEDE AHEAD (*K J Lihaba) which hung out from the 300m and SON OF RAFEEF (K Matsunyane) which rolled in. c) Leaving the 100m SON OF RAFEEF (K Matsunyane) was steadied when awkwardly placed between the heels of STAMPEDE AHEAD (*K J Lihaba) and the heels of GREATEST HIT (S Veale) which hung in from the 200m and was carried in by THE MARQUEE (S Moodley) which hung in from the 300m and rolled in despite the efforts of Jockey S Moodley. Thereafter, in the concluding stages GREATEST HIT (S Veale) was brushed in by THE MARQUEE (S Moodley) which rolled in. d) CHRISTMAS CACTUS (*D D Louw) and BOSS OF BOSSES (A Mgudlwa) raced green. e) Jockey C Little reported that he felt something amiss in the running with OWNER OF CREATION. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2., Appendix E, (Guideline 3) in that he mis-used his crop by striking GREATEST HIT forward of the saddle in the concluding stages.
