Stipes Report
EN ROUTE TO THE START, DAWSON'S ANVIL (S VEALE) LIFTED ITS LEFT FRONT SHOE, WHICH WAS ATTENDED TO BY THE COURSE FARRIER. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ANONYMOUS (K Matsunyane) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) TASKMASTER (ARG) (G Lerena) jumped outwards sharply leaving the stalls. c) MILAN'S WORLD (C Habib) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, ALL ON RED (J Mariba) and DAWSON'S ANVIL (S Veale) were bumped outwards by TASKMASTER (ARG) (G Lerena), which jumped outwards sharply leaving the stalls. b) At approximately the 1200m, COME TOGETHER (J Penny) was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of ANONYMOUS (K Matsunyane), which rolled in marginally. c) At approximately the 250m, TOTAL ERUPTION (*T Mayhew) was steadied when tightened for galloping room between the inside running rail and TASKMASTER (ARG) (G Lerena), which was carried in marginally by DAWSON'S ANVIL (S Veale), which rolled in. Thereafter, in the concluding stages, TOTAL ERUPTION (*T Mayhew) was steadied in anticipation of being awkwardly placed on the heels of TASKMASTER (ARG) (G Lerena), which had come to the end of its run and rolled out marginally. d) Jockey G Lerena reported that TASKMASTER (ARG) made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) DAWSON'S ANVIL (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Matthew de Kock advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) TOTAL ERUPTION: Apprentice T Mayhew weighed out at 54,3kg, only claiming 1kg of his 1,5kg apprentice allowance as declared. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) RIVER KITTEN raced with a cornell collar (declared 3 April 2025). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) TASKMASTER (ARG) not striding out right hind. b) TOTAL ERUPTION coughing post race. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
