THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	SOMMERSTERN (C Little), ONE CAPE (JP van der Merwe) and SANDHURST (S Veale) were slow into stride. 

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	The saddle on QUICKSMART slipped forward during the canter past. As a result, Apprentice N Yuen had to dismount and lead this gelding to the start, causing a delay.
b)	NOMORE BULLETS (C Murray) over raced in the early stages.
c)	The neck strap fitted to DOUBLE DISTILLED (K Steyn) came adrift at the 400m.
d)	In view of the performance of CLOSE ENCOUNTER (L Mxothwa), which raced wide without cover on the turn and into the straight, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
e)	Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with SLIVER OF SUNSHINE, which made its run on the outside of the course. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
f)	CLARK GRISWOLD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass was advised. (ZM)
