Stipes Report
En-route to the start BEAMONESQUE (C Murray) cast the right-front shoe which was replaced by the course farrier at the start. This gelding was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MAGIC SURPRISE (C Habib) fly-jumped leaving the stalls and lost 2 lengths. b) FORTRESS OF FIRE (R A Venniker) stumbled leaving the stalls and became unbalanced. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) : a) APEX PREDATOR (S Hlengwa) hung in from the 350m and took an awkward stride shortly before the finish. Thereafter Jockey S Hlengwa reported that this gelding did not stride out freely in the straight. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) Apprentice D D Louw reported that ILHA DA ORANGE did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that PINETTI did not stride out freely in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) UNITED NATION (A Mgudlwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D W Moore was advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) APEX PREDATOR : Broke down right front. Humanely Euthanised. Specimens taken for analysis. b) ILHA DA ORANGE : Not striding our right front. c) PINETTI : Not striding out left front and coughing.
