Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SALAGADOOLA (M van Rensburg) dropped its head as the start was effected and was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h00) b) Permission was granted for GOLDEN ALEXIA (C Little) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) EXPLOSIVE GIFT (S Naidoo) was bumped out by MEDITERRANEANFLAME (Y Ramzan), which was bumped outwards by AMANATTO (C Zackey), which was in turn bumped outward and squeezed out by GOLDEN ALEXIA (C Little), which jumped outwards shortly after the start. In this incident, the hindquarters of MEDITERRANEANFLAME (Y Ramzan) were turned. d) EXPLOSIVE GIFT (S Naidoo) was hanging out from the 400m and shifted outwards away from the crop at the 150m. e) Jockey C Little reported that he felt something amiss with GOLDEN ALEXIA. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) In view of the performance of MEDITERRANEANFLAME (Y Ramzan), which was hanging in slightly from the 250m and was not persevered with in the concluding stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Jockey Y Ramzan was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride MEDITERRANEANFLAME out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Jockey Y Ramzan signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 000.00. Trainer E Kaknis was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. g) POMEROL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing was advised.
