THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HELIOTROPE (*S Bungane) jumped slow, losing one length. b) BEAUTIFUL SIDE (S Veale) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Between the 1500m and the 1200m PRINCESS OF BAYEUX (O Noach) and MY ONLY WEAKNESS (C Zackey) raced in restricted galloping room on the inside of LAVENDER BAY (A Domeyer), which was attempting to secure a position closer to the inside running rail. After interviewing Jockeys O Noach (PRINCESS OF BAYEUX), C Zackey (MY ONLY WEAKNESS) and A Domeyer (LAVENDER BAY), the Stewards were of the opinion that, in this instance, Jockey A Domeyer (LAVENDER BAY) would be afforded the benefit of the doubt as it could not be conclusively proved that he was not sufficiently clear of other runners. He was, however, advised that the Stewards expected him to give more room to runners on his inside and to ensure that he is sufficiently clear in similar circumstances. b) The saddle on MY ONLY WEAKNESS slipped back in running. As a consequence, Jockey C Zackey was unable to assist this filly from the 100m. c) LAVENDER BAY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Dixon, acting on behalf of Trainer WA Nel, was advised.
