THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BILLY COOL (G van Niekerk) jumped slow, losing one length. b) MEXICAN PETE (*S Bungane) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ALL ABOUT AL recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer AN Marcus was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) MEXICAN PETE (*S Bungane) was resaddled at the start, causing a delay. c) Leaving the 600m CHURCHILLIAN (A Domeyer) was steadied briefly when unable to secure clear running between MAJOR APOLLO (JP van der Merwe) and BARNEY MCGREW (D Ashby). d) The Stewards have adjourned to review this race in its entirety. e) DEMANDING DAVE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JMT Stewart was advised.
