Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	CADENZA (R Fourie) and DINERO (X Ndlovu) were stubborn loading.
b)	BOMBER BAY (C Zackey) was stubborn loading and thereafter was slow into stride.
c)	TOP DOLLAR (E Webber) was nervous and reared in the stalls.
d)	CITY OF PORT LOUIS (M van Rensburg) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	DINERO recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer E Kaknis was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level.
b)	BOMBER BAY (C Zackey) was hanging in and shifted in away from the crop from approximately the 200m.
c)	NUCLEUR POWER (*B Soodoo) was hanging in from the 200m.
d)	RED LHASA (M Yeni) was hanging in in the latter stages.
e)	Jockey MK Katjedi reported that he felt something amiss with BOMBER STREAM. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. 
	Trainer L Gila was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables.
f)	Jockey E Webber reported that he felt something amiss with TOP DOLLAR. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. 
	Trainer E Kaknis was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. 
	Jockey E Webber appeared before the Board and was questioned as to the reason he did not report the incident in the starting stalls as it appeared that there was a chance this gelding could have injured itself when he reared in the stalls during the loading process. He was reminded of his obligation to report any incident which might affect the welfare or performance of his mount in races. 
Jockey E Webber was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline 3; Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking TOP DOLLAR in front of the saddle at the 300m. Jockey E Webber signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00.
g)	CADENZA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM)
