Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	WINTER WARFARE (Y Ramzan) reared as the start was effected, losing two lengths.
b)	GALILEO STAR (L Mxothwa) was nervous in the stalls and stood awkwardly.
c)	HALCYON (K Strydom) jumped awkwardly, losing two lengths.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (14h45)
b)	The wheel axle on starting stalls bank broke. As a consequence, the stalls could not be moved until this was fixed. The horses returned to the saddling area, where trainers were permitted to loosen their girths until the problem was resolved. This caused a delay to the start of this race. 
c)	The Stewards reviewed the start with regard to WINTER WARFARE (Y Ramzan) in stall gate 1 and established that WINTER WARFARE had reared as the start was effected. As a consequence, the Handler assigned to this gelding had hold of his bridle and was unable to release this gelding on time. The Stewards, acting in terms of Rule 61.5.10.2 declared WINTER WARFARE to be a non-runner.
d)	At the 100m GALILEO STAR (L Mxothwa) shifted sharply outwards away from the crop and made heavy contact with WAROFDYNAMITE (M Yeni), which continually shifted in away from the crop from approximately the 300m. During this incident FRENCH FLAME (C Zackey) had to be directed outwards to avoid making contact with WAROFDYNAMITE (M Yeni).
	Jockeys M Yeni (WAROFDYNAMITE) and L Mxothwa (GALILEO STAR) appeared before the Board and were advised to take stronger corrective measures to prevent their horses from shifting ground in future races.
e)	In view of the report from the Starter regarding WINTER WARFARE (Y Ramzan), Trainer K Mitchley will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
f)	FRENCH FLAME, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DG Smith was advised. (LM)
