THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) DUCHESS DI (*S Valjalo) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
b) WINTER BELLE (S Khumalo) jumped outwards, making contact with the left side front gate leaving the stalls.
c) STORM BALLET (L Nhlapo) and VARACHINO'S CHAMP (S Moodley) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Shortly after the start, L Nhlapo (STORM BALLET) briefly lost the footing to his left side stirrup iron.
b) MASTER'S LADY (C Habib) and VARACHINO'S CHAMP (S Moodley) hung in from 300m.
c) Jockey S Khumalo (WINTER BELLE) did not persevere with his riding in the concluding stages. Thereafter, Jockey S Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with WINTER BELLE in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
d) Jockey S Valjalo reported that DUCHESS DI made an abnormal respiratory noise in running.

e) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning DUCHESS DI, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Assistant Trainer M Peter, acting on behalf of Trainer A P Peter, was advised.
f) AMAZONIAN (M van Rensburg), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
