Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MADRA RUA (IRE) (R Fourie) was restless in the stalls and jumped slow, losing one length. b) STOP THE PRESS (G Behr), BOURBON KING (S Moodley) and FOREVER RED (L Mxothwa) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 400m MADRA RUA (IRE) (R Fourie) was directed outwards and into clear running. b) At the 250m MONTICELLO (*V Jodhee) took an awkward stride and shortly thereafter shifted outward, which resulted in MONTESSORI (A Domeyer), which appeared to have come to the end of its run, having to steady briefly. Apprentice V Jodhee appeared before the Board and was advised that in similar circumstances the Stewards expect him to stop riding and straighten his mounts. c) Approaching the 200m HONORINE'S GIMMIE (C Zackey) was unable to secure clear running between a tiring PEACE ON YOU (G van Niekerk) and MADRA RUA (IRE) (R Fourie), which shifted in slightly. d) Jockey G van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with PEACE ON YOU, which raced at the front of the field and tired quickly from the 300m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) In view of the performance of RHYTHM KING (A Fortune), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding MADRA RUA (IRE) (R Fourie), Trainer J Crawford will be advised to have this colt re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. g) KLIPTOWN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
