Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BLIZZARDBOY (C Little) and ZAGREB (A Fortune) made contact leaving the stalls. b) WIZARDING WORLD (O Noach) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RACHETTU (K Steyn) raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages and, as a consequence, proved difficult to settle. b) Approaching the 200m PROTECTOR OF PEACE (JP van der Merwe), which showed a tendency to hang outwards, rolled out and brushed CAESAR'S RANSOM (C Zackey). Shortly thereafter, PROTECTOR OF PEACE (JP van der Merwe) was carried outwards and made contact on a second occasion with CAESAR'S RANSOM (C Zackey) when carried outwards by DISTRICT MASTER (G van Niekerk), which commenced to hang outwards. Thereafter, CAESAR'S RANSOM (C Zackey) and PROTECTOR OF PEACE (JP van der Merwe) brushed at the finish. The Stewards called for a race review and after reviewing the footage and considering the distance of 0.30 of a length between DISTRICT MASTER (G van Niekerk) and PROTECTOR OF PEACE (JP van der Merwe) were satisfied that the result had not been affected and took no further action. Jockey G van Niekerk appeared before the Board and was advised to straighten his mounts sooner than he had on this occasion. c) BALZI ROSSI, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised.
