THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BANZAI PIPELINE (*D D Louw) was slow into stride. b) ACACIA'S BLOSSOM (J Gates) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (GF) : a) ACACIA'S BLOSSOM (J Gates) over-raced in the early stages. b) Leaving the 200m Jockey R A Venniker (RICCARDO) briefly hesitated with her riding in anticipation of being awkwardly placed on the inside of HODGEPODGE (S Veale) which was directed to the inside of GARDENER'S PRIDE (*M Mbuto) which hung in from the 300m. As a result HODGEPODGE (S Veale) raced in restricted room until the finish. c) Jockey T Godden reported that OUR LADY FATE did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performance of SPECTACULAR (S Moodley) (2.45 lengths, 18/10 in the running), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) GARDENER'S PRIDE (*M Mbuto), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
