THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE STARTING STALLS HAVING TO BE REPOSITIONED ON THE TRACK, AS WELL AS TAKE NO PRISONERS (C MURRAY) BEING SUBJECT TO A LATE VETERINARY CHECK. 

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	TAKE NO PRISONERS (C Murray) was restless in the stalls.
b)	PEACE TREATY (G Lerena) reared in the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. 
c)	NUCLEAR FORCE (C Habib) and GOLD DE GRACE (J R Syster) were slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	At approximately the 400m, PEACE TREATY (G Lerena) was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed between FULL GO (K Matsunyane) and THE MERCIFUL (*M Mbuto), which rolled in and was corrected. 
b)	Jockey C Murray (TAKE NO PRISONERS) did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. Thereafter, Jockey C Murray reported that this gelding choked up in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 	
c)	Jockey J R Syster (GOLD DE GRACE) did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. Thereafter, Jockey J R Syster reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 	
d)	FIFTH OF JULY (M K Katjedi) tired badly in the concluding stages. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
e)	ARLINGTON ACTION (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
